Biography

Founder - Ross Lewin

While pursuing college studies in both Wisconsin and South Florida, Ross Lewin began his career in 1976 as a loan officer and collector with Avco Financial Services, in Wisconsin. He honed his skills in direct sales lending, collections, skip tracing, fraud detection and prevention as well as first and second mortgage lending and was named a Regional Supervisor in 1978.

Mr. Lewin later went on to become an automotive finance and warranty consultant with one of the nation’s largest automotive finance training centers and insurance groups. As a finance instructor, Ross traveled around the country teaching finance managers on how to improve on their sales techniques and increase their aftermarket sales profits.

He reentered the mortgage industry in 1995 as a Regional Manager with North American Mortgage in their B/C division. (Sub-prime Market)

After several years with NAM, Mr. Lewin started his own mortgage brokerage firm, whereby, it soon became one of Wisconsin’s largest privately held mortgage brokerage firms employing more than 155 loan officers statewide. Lewin sold the company in late 2004.

Following a brief hiatus, Ross continued his career as a Wholesale State Manager with Fifth Third’s Banking division, Home Equity of America, which specialized in second mortgages. Working directly with both mortgage brokerage firms and banks securing financing and correspondent lending for the State of Wisconsin, he later accepted a position as the Regional and Tri-state Manager for Heartwell Mortgage wholesale lending division.

For several years Ross witnessed the escalating problem of unethical and deceptive lending practices implemented by some of the mortgage brokers, loan officers and banks which were directly responsible for the collapse of the mortgage industry.  Ross recognized the overwhelming need and to create an independent agency known as Mortgage Loan Inspection® in 2007. The newly formed agency focuses on providing the most comprehensive mortgage protection available in home financing.

Mr. Lewin has been honored by both the finance and mortgage industry, and has received numerous awards and national recognition including a Certificate of Achievement in Mortgage Fraud Prevention, Certificate of Completion in Loss Mitigation and an Award of Excellence in Regulatory Compliance in State and Federal rules, regulations and law. He was also named Mortgage Broker of the Year from World Savings and has received Broker of the Month Awards from over 15 national lenders 45 times.

Co- Founder – James Schriner
James Schriner began his career in 1978 with the investment banking firm of William Blair and Company, Chicago, Illinois. During his employment with the firm, Jim became a registered stock broker passing the NYSE Series 7 exam and focused his efforts on the structure and operation of public companies, both large and small. Jim also assisted in the marketing and sale of investment limited partnerships in real estate, oil and gas, and medical equipment leasing, through their tax shelter department.

As a registered stock broker, Jim also provided clients with stock, bond and mutual fund recommendations for their individual and tax deferred accounts.
In early 1992, Mr. Schriner joined forces with William Block & Co. and spent two years with the firm as a mortgage broker. He later went on to become a Statewide Manager for a National lender, Quality Mortgage Company.

Over the years Jim continued his career as a mortgage broker with various Wisconsin mortgage companies providing mortgage loans, and home equity loans for the purchase and refinance of residential property.

In the mid 1990s, Jim witnessed the rapid easing of credit requirements with the introduction and aggressive marketing of subprime mortgage loans. He quickly recognized the potential damage that could result from providing these programs to homebuyers with minimal qualifications.
Mr. Schriner joined Mortgage Loan Inspection in 2007 as one of the founding members, and serves as a Mortgage Loan Inspector for the agency evaluating and reviewing home loan documentations and refinancing transactions.

Jim brings over 17 years of residential mortgage experience to the table and is committed to providing his clients with the superior expertise required to protect applicants throughout the mortgage process.
